1 Tell the students the difference between ‘there be’ and ‘have/has’

2 Teach the students to use the present continuous tense to talk about things that are happening now

Step 1  warm up

1. Revise the words and different shops in last class, you can bring in some real objects and talk with the Ss:

2 .Ask students some more questions

Step 2 Presentation

1 .Go through the table with students.

2 .Show students a picture of a shopping mall .Ask students questions about the shopping mall,

3.Ask students to complete the sentences in the e-mail on their own and check the answers in pairs.

4.Tell the students that they can use this model e-mail to talk about other things,

Step 3  Learn present continuous tense

1 Ask students questions remember it is essential to arouse students’ interest.

2 Ask students to study the table on page 77.Go through the table with them. Point out that we can make negative sentences by adding ‘not’ after the verb ‘to be’.

3.Do some actions and help the Ss to describe them correctly.

    4.Ask one student to give some actions, let the other Ss guess What’s he/ she doing?

Step 4 Read and act

1  Ask students to look at the picture in part B1 and describe it .

2  Ask the students to check the answers in pairs .

3  Ask students to workout the rule then read together.

4  Explain to students how we form the ‘-ing’ form of a verb with reference to the table on page 78

5  Tell students that when we ask questions about what people are doing, we use the present continuous tense, read through the tables on P 78.

6  Tell student that Sandy and Amy are talking on the phone. Ask them to complete the dialogue in B2. Check their answers.

7  If time permits ,ask students to make up their own dialogue and then make it out.

Step 5 Personal pronouns

1 Explain to students that we can use personal pronouns to avoid repeating nouns.

2 Ask students to learn the table on page79 by themselves.

3 Ask students to read the dialogue between Daniel andhisfather . then tell them to complete the sentences with pronouns.

4.Ask several students to read it out .

Step 8 Homework

1 Additional exercises

    2  Do some more exercise.
