一．教材依据及课型
8B Unit 1 Reading
二．教学目标及要求
1．知识和能力目标：
•To recognize types of questions used in interviews
•To recognize extended answers to open questions
•To infer general meaning from title and context
•To predict meanings of specific words from context
•To identify true or false statements based on the reading passage
2．过程与方法：以任务型语言教学方法为主，穿插讨论式等教学方法，在教学过程中，注重培养学生深层思维能力以及综合运用英语语言的读写能力等。
3．情感态度与价值观
通过本篇的阅读，让学生了解九龙城的变化以及这些变化所带来的利弊，从而对自己的家乡的变化发表正确的观点。
三．教学重点：
1． 培养学生运用阅读策略skimming and scanning来提高阅读能力。。
2．掌握与课文有关的词汇，以便运用这些词汇来复述课文
3．了解采访人物中使用的问题类型
四．教学难点：
运用所学词汇和句型表达个人思想，对周围所发生的变化作出正确的评价。
五．教学准备
1．从网上搜索有关香港的资料：交通工具的变化 香港地图 九龙城的图片、历史等
2．课件制作：将已有资料，设计的问题和任务做成幻灯片数张
3．设计多个任务活动

六．教学过程：
Step 1. Revision（3分钟）
Review the names of different forms of transport in Hong Kong using pictures.
Step 2. Lead-in(4分钟)
展示香港九龙过去和现在的图片，并向学生提出以下问题：
What is the name of the city?
Has it changed a lot?
How much do you know about it?

通过图片展示来导入,既能激发学生的好奇心和求知欲,又能营造宽松活跃的课堂气氛，让他们一开始就对九龙城产生极大的兴趣。
接着介绍九龙城寨的一些背景知识。
Step 3Prediction（3分钟）
Task:
Can you guess what the text is about after reading the title ?
Can you guess what Mr Dong think about of his life at present by analyzing（分析） the key words in the last paragraph?

运用预测信息的阅读策略让学生完成以下三个任务：
1． 在没有预习课文的情况下根据文章标题猜测文章内容。
2． 根据说明部分预测文章内容。
3． 根据关键词预测文章内容。
Step 4. While-reading（28分钟）
Mini—task 1: First Reading Ask Ss to quickly skim the text on their own. Ask them to highlight the words they don’t know. Then ask Ss to discuss them in pairs and try to work out the meaning from the context. Help Ss finish Part B.（4分钟）
Mini—task 2 Read the passage quickly and answer the questions: （2分钟）
1．How long has he known the Kowloon Walled City?.
2．When and why did he leave the Kowloon Walled City?
Mini—task 3: Third reading Ask Ss to read the text again and try to complete the following tables in groups. (7分钟)
